Hi Dick:
First, I would like to thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to give us two 'excellent' and lengthy perspectives on this Board...the one below - regarding "Richard" taking perhaps a broader range in his views about PN postings...and the one above - to do with this thorny issue of 'website compliance'.
It is from such sharing by our leaders that we gain good insights and wisdom based on solid experience.
I personally believe that 'conceptually', Ken Wheaton's idea is absolutely superb.
And yet, I can readily see where we could 'open a hornet's nest' if we consider the MONITORING workload (and our 'credentials' to monitor) - plus the possible LEGAL ramifications - because whether we like it or not - we do live in an exceptionally litigious society.
Perhaps Ken's idea could serve as a 'two-step' FILTERING process, where possibly WE could act as the "initial" source to try to 'oversee' our downline's Websites - for any "obvious" violations - but that the "final" approvals would have to go through Corp Compliance at 4Life.
OR - perhaps 4Life (with some creative input from the field) could even design a 'series' of different Approved Website Templates - with a variety of formats - to give us a menu to choose from. Such sites would be re-designed to be more user-friendly than the current 'my4Life.com' site, but such sites would be scrutinized by 4Life for 'compliance', and distributors could upload their pictures / bios / etc.
The trend right now - because of increasingly stricter rules by the regulators (on nutritional supplement MLM's) - is definitely moving towards more and more "corporate control" of marketing items - whereby we as distributors will be able to use ONLY "corporate produced" materials (brochures / sales aids / folders / audios / videos / websites / etc). And although we may feel this 'infringes' on our rights and freedoms - the ultimate responsibility for this falls directly on the MLM company.
But you know, nothing ever 'happens' to bring about positive change - until somebody comes forth and volunteers 'ideas for consideration', like Ken did.
And if at first we don't succeed - - - .
Thanks Ken and Dick, and everyone else - for giving us your interactions. It is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Peter A. / Canada
