I have been watching the discussion about Internet Sites and want to express my support for Leroy Reber's post earlier. Everybody should express their opinion and let David Lisonbee know what your thoughts are. I'm sure the solution he is hoping to find is one that will work for everybody. To encourage all of you to email him and also to addd a new thought to this discussion I have pasted a copy of the message I just sent onto this post.
Hi David,
Regarding the current discussion about Internet sites to promote a 4Life business I would like to add my support to the position recently posted by Leroy Reber on the PN Bulletin Board. In addition I wish to offer a suggestion for the challenge of monitoring independent sites for compliance to regulations and company guidelines.
I recognize this is a major challenge and my perspective is limited. It does seem that the proposal I have heard for cutting off a whole area of business to cure the problem sounds a little like amputating the hand to fix an infected finger. I think it would be better to find a way to deliver Transfer Factor Plus where it is needed to clean up the finger! To that end I would like to offer the following suggestion.
Why not set up a program for Distributor Leaders whereby they could earn the right to monitor and approve their own group's efforts on the Internet and perhaps other advertising as well. As a foundation training for this position I would suggest the "ANA Certification Course" referred to in Peter Arnold's post. (PN Bulletin Board dated 8/4/02). This could perhaps be made available through the company so that you would know that the Distributors applying for Compliance Authorized status had actually completed the course. In addition the company could add other training and a regular e-zene to keep everybody on the same page.
To put some teeth into this program it should be an earned honor that could be revoked at any time for repeated or flagrant violations of company policy. To simplify the Company's oversight of material approved in the field a copy should be filed with the Legal and Compliance Dept. For those who do not wish to participate a company approval process should be available and required with penalties for violation. In addition a simple method should be put in place for reporting possible violations to Legal and Compliance for review. All Compliance Authorized Distributors would have a vested interest in supporting the company's goals.
I believe this would result in a much better educated distributor force that would be far less likely to get into regulatory trouble. In addition the Company would have quickly expanded the number of Legal and Compliance "eyes" looking over the Internet for potential trouble. As a result the Company could focus its efforts on the few "bad apples" that really deserve attention.
I believe that opening new possibilities through education fits this great company far more neatly than any form of amputation. I know that you have been struggling with the issues involved and this suggestion may well miss some key points. I offer it in the hope that it may point a direction or include an idea that will help. Thanks for your attention.
