Hello Sean:
Many thanks for your information (and caution) above. There are quite a number of challenges we face as we try to 'harness the Internet beast'.
And quite frankly, I believe we 'must' conquer it, because I feel the Internet is the "future" of our industry.
I know that I personally have an enormous amount to learn about all this.
As you say, a recent problem has to do with many
computers 'not reading' HTML e-mail (although it seems to apply more to some of the old AOL programs. Others will not accept HTML e-mails with 'embedded graphics' - something that may be beautiful to look at, but worthless if they are not being 'opened'.
Some Autoresponder systems (like IGP - InfoGeneratorPro) have built-in software that sends e-mail in 'both' Plain Text and HTML, so that if the computer won't accept HTML, it automatically switches to Plain Text.
A more serious problem as I see it, has to do with certain ISP's (Internet Service Providers)automatically 'not delivering' certain e-mails... which 'they' think are "spam".
This is unforgivable 'censorship' - and I believe we will need to lobby hard to shut this kind of policing down. After all, our Postal Delivery service brings us all kinds of 'junk mail' without first 'censoring' it on our behalf (they leave that 'up to us', as it should be).
Your suggestion of crafting 'good' Subject Lines is excellent. A little creative energy can overcome the problem of being 'blocked'.
I believe we should become well informed on the whole area of "Internet Marketing" - especially as it applies to Inter-Network Marketing (doing MLM 'primarily' through the Internet, as many of us are doing).
There are some wonderful courses and resources out there (some Free) for doing exactly this - and there are some great teachers - like Corey Rudi, Terry Dean, Dr. Kevin Nunley, on and on...
Never a dull moment, in this - or any other industry in these times.
Appreciate your insights Sean - thanks.
Sincerely, Peter A. / Canada
