Maureen,
I found a short synopsis that dad (Mike) wrote on this subject. Maria
Immunocal is a whey protein with special peptide links that assist the body in producing more intracellular glutathione. Glutathione is an antioxidant and helps the cell survive. Glutathione, like other common nutrients help strengthen the body's functions. Another nutrient that can increase cellular glutathione as much or even more is lipoic acid which is less expensive and has other useful benefits. There is another whey protein on the market that has the required peptide links but is less expensive, Designer Protein. You can go to www.designerprotein.com and follow the product information prompts to the wonders of whey protein.
Transfer Factor is not in the same gategory. There are genetic boundaries for the amount of glutathione that a cell will maintain. While immunocal brings a cell back to its full potential of function, there are no boudaries for how much experience knowledge that the immune system can contain. Transfer Factor takes the immune system beyond its previous experience with no limitations. Immunocal is a building block while Transfer Factor active intelligence.
An anology would be supplying strength to your brain compared to supplying more knowledge to your brain. Immunocal is a good product but not as unique as the company claims. Although, Immucocal has several patents, there are other companies that have their own patents that have found different approaches to the same results.
Does an individual need both products? Yes. It is advisable to consume a high quality whey protein or for glutathione at least consume lipoic acid. If I had to choose between the Immunocal or Transfer Factor, Transfer Factor would win hands down. There is no comparison between the overall health benefits.
