Hi Darlene,
The latest research indicates that the primary source of Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition. The pancreas secretes a mutated protein molecule. The immune system spots the mutated protein and considers it a non-self substance. The immune system targets the pancreas cells that produce the mutated protein and in the process suppresses the cells, eventually resulting in premature cell death.
From the primary condition, Type 1 diabetes, several secondary spin-off conditions develop such as infections, glycation, inflammation, cross-linking, oxidation of cell membranes, and decrease in circulation. Like most all illnesses free radicals develop from the chemical reactions that take place in reaction to the primary problem. Free radical activity accelerates the illness and creates more cellular damage throughout he body. From these conditions heart disease, kidney failure, cancer and many other illnesses develop.
The grape seed extract assist in controlling the free radical activity. An organ or tissue that is under attack from free radicals will experience a great deal of cellular stress. This stress can cause the organ to malfunction. If a secondary problem, such as kidney failure, is in a stressed condition and has not been totally damaged beyond repair, the relief of the free radical attack can cause the organ to become functional again. It is rare to have an organ become functional by relieving the stress caused by free radicals. Often when this does occur the relief is short lived unless the primary problem can be addressed.
As Dr. Markowitz has suggested that TF+ enhances the part of the immune system that addresses the spin-off infections caused by Type 1 diabetes. This is a very serious situation. Many individuals have lost their feet or fingers due to these infections. For the primary problem of suppressed cells in the pancreas, I would suggest plain Transfer Factor. Transfer factors assist in the balancing or modulation of the immune system. If the above hypothesis is correct (mutated protein secretion from the pancreas with resulting in an autoimmune), consuming as much transfer factors as possible would be advisable. There is more transfer factor in the product Transfer Factor than in TF+. Actually, I would consume both TF and TF+ in order to address all relevant issues.
I do not suggest that any of these recommendations be perceived as a cure to any disease. I am addressing the modulation of the immune system that can support overall health. If symptoms can be eliminated or reduced we can be very thankful. If you need any clarification please let me know.
Highest regards,
